Create an effective ad for your job post on
LinkedIN
Robbert Murray & Associates
We, one of the Best Recruitment
Agency In Dubai looked at the interactions of millions
of LinkedIn members with job postings and did a study to find out what job
descriptions are most popular. The results were broken down into seven
easy tips that will help you improve the effectiveness of your job postings.
1 KEEP ITS CONCISE
It is better to have less. According to LinkedIn's
behavioral data, shorter job postings had a higher rate of application than
those with more details. Candidates will
be able to quickly find the information they are looking for by keeping things
short. Shorter descriptions are better for
modern candidates, as more than half of all job searches on LinkedIn are from
mobile devices. Candidates who applied for
jobs with 150 words or less were 17.8% more likely to apply than those who posted
450-600 words.
2. BE CAREFUL OF GET TING TOO CASUAL
Three versions of the same job description
were created: one generic, one formal filled with business jargons and one
casual with conversational language (plus some jokes).
According to our survey, the very casual
job description (which included terms such as "kickass corporate
manger" and silly hashtags such "#spreadsheets4life") was less
effective at attracting people. It's important to be human and reflect the company culture. If you want to attract top applicants, don't be too strict.
3 LET
CANDIDATES KNOW WHAT'S IN IT FOR THEM
Candidates may only spend a few moments
reading your job description at this stage. Make sure to give them the details
they need. Candidates
indicated in our survey that they want to know what they can expect to make and
how they will be working. They also want to know if they have any chance of
getting the job. Candidates need to decide
if the time and effort they put into this job is worth it. After you have gained their attention with the right
information they will be excited to hear more about the role.
4. DO NOT STRESS TOO MUCH FOR TALKING UP YOUR
BUSINESS
Candidates care about the company culture
and its employees. It's not what they are looking for in a job description. Our study found that many
people prefer to find information about a company via its website, LinkedIn
Company Page or during interviews rather than reading job descriptions. Candidates should be able to find out more about your
company on places such as your Company Page or website. Focus on the job, not the post.
5. DEFINE EX ACTUALLY WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
It is not enough to hire someone for their
experience or education. They are hired to do the job. Candidates want to know the exact results you are looking
for.
Set clear, quantifiable goals for the new
hire. In our
sample job postings, these performance goals were highly valued by the
candidates. These goals can be used to
improve your job descriptions and make them more distinctive. Stakeholders can help you to create concrete, quantifiable
and realistic achievements for your job.
